Norma Irene Woods

……..Increase Print Size……….Decrease Print Size

1935 – 2011

It is with both a sense of sadness and relief that we announce the death of Norma Irene Woods age 76, on December 31st at Beach Grove Nursing Home, Charlottetown, PEI.
Sadness for what she has meant to this world as a loving mother and grandmother.
Relief, for the years of living with Alzheimers had gradually and cruelly claimed her warm personality.
Norma grew up in Hampton, N.B and graduated as a nurse from the St. John General.
Throughout her nursing career wherever she moved with her family she quickly became employed and excelled as department head in the local hospital or Nursing Homes in Miramichi, Charlottetown, Fredericton and Saint John.
Her quiet demeanor and hidden talents of playing piano, and knitting were gifts she readily bestowed on others. This sense of caring for others was her joy in life as she “nursed” many people throughout her lifetime. With her late husband, Rev. Douglas Woods (Sept 2005) and her children she made countless good friends throughout the Maritimes before retiring to her beloved Island in 2001.
She is survived by her children: Rev. Susan Woods (MaryLou) Ont.; Rev. Tom Woods (Cathy), Halifax; Sharon Woods-Bryenton (Blain) Charlottetown, and Cyndi Proude (Kevin), Charlottetown.
Norma is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Alyson, Matthew, Katie, (Halifax); Tyler, Emily, Josh and Hannah (Charlottetown). Sister of Gordon Raymond (Mary), George Raymond (Dolores). Sister-in-law of Betty Johnston(Bud deceased 2011) and Fran Duplisea(Bill), and Bill Woods (Barb).
Predeceased by her parents Perce and Grace Raymond. Many thanks to the dedicated staff and those who cared for Mom in the Beach Grove Nursing Home. She would have appreciated your “bedside manner”.
Visitation at Belvedere Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5-8 pm. Funeral Wednesday from Park Royal United Church at 1:00 p.m. Family flowers only.
Please make donations to the Alzheimer Society in your province, Park Royal United Church Memorial Fund or the Nicaragua Mission Project 2012.
